Common Dallas accidents

Highway and Interchange Crashes

The "High Five" interchange (I-635/US-75), the I-30/I-35E mixmaster, and the constant construction along I-35E generate massive crash volumes. Speed differentials, merging conflicts, and confusing construction signage create dangerous conditions.

Trucking Accidents

Dallas sits at the intersection of major north-south and east-west commercial corridors. 18-wheeler crashes on I-30, I-35E, and I-20 produce catastrophic injuries.

Rideshare Accidents

With Dallas's nightlife districts (Deep Ellum, Lower Greenville, Uptown), rideshare usage is extremely high. We handle Uber and Lyft accident cases regularly.

Construction Zone Crashes

DFW has been one big construction zone for years. When inadequate signage, missing barriers, or sudden lane changes cause crashes, work zone contractors may share liability with drivers.

What Texas law means

Statute of Limitations: 2 Years

Modified Comparative Fault

Texas allows recovery as long as you're less than 51% at fault.

DART Cases

If your accident involved DART buses or trains, that's a government entity with much shorter notice requirements. Call us immediately if this might apply.

"Dallas has grown faster than its roads can handle. The crashes that result aren't accidents — they're predictable consequences."

Frequently Asked — Austin, Texas

Austin injury questions, answered.

Austin + Travis County injury law — answered straight. Each answer is based on real cases we've handled — and links to deeper resources on this site.

What courts handle injury cases in Travis County? +

Personal injury cases in Travis County are filed in the Travis County Civil District Courts, located at the Heman Marion Sweatt Travis County Courthouse (1000 Guadalupe St., Austin, TX 78701). Federal cases involving diversity or certain trucking matters go to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division. Cases against the City of Austin or Capital Metro require notice procedures within strict deadlines. More on our Austin practice →

What should I do after a crash on MoPac, I-35, or US-183 in Austin? +

Austin's freeway system is notoriously congested — I-35 through central Austin, MoPac (Loop 1) on the west side, and US-183 on the north all see frequent severe crashes. After a major crash: call 911, stay at the scene, photograph everything, decline to discuss fault with the other driver, and get medical attention the same day. If a tech company shuttle, delivery truck, or commercial vehicle was involved, evidence preservation needs to happen within days. Commercial vehicle cases →

How long do I have to file an injury claim in Austin? +

Two years from the date of injury — same as everywhere in Texas under §16.003. Cases against the City of Austin, Capital Metro, or Travis County require notice within 6 months. The University of Texas (a state entity) has its own claim procedures. Minors have tolling until 18. Free case review →

Can I sue if I was hit by an Uber or Lyft driver downtown? +

Austin has one of the densest rideshare markets in Texas, especially downtown, on the East Side, and in the entertainment districts. Both Uber and Lyft carry $1M insurance that applies when the driver is on a trip or actively responding to a ride request. If you were a pedestrian, cyclist, or other driver hit by a rideshare vehicle, that coverage is available. We get the trip data immediately to confirm coverage tier. More on rideshare claims →

What if I was hit by a scooter or bike in Austin? +

Scooter and bike cases are uniquely common in Austin. If you were a pedestrian hit by a scooter, you may have claims against the rider (limited coverage) and potentially the scooter company (Lime, Bird, Wheels) depending on the circumstances. If you were a scooter rider hit by a car, the driver's auto insurance is typically the primary recovery source — but scooter companies' user agreements complicate things. These cases require specific experience. More on pedestrian/bike cases →

How much is an Austin injury case worth? +

Travis County juries are generally considered moderate-to-favorable for injury plaintiffs, but case value comes down to injuries, liability, and insurance — not venue alone. Minor cases settle in the low thousands; surgical injuries routinely reach six figures; catastrophic cases (TBI, spinal cord, fatality) can settle in the millions. We give an honest range in the free consultation.

Can I sue after a tech campus or construction site injury in Austin? +

Austin's construction and tech expansion has created many injury claims. If you were injured on a construction site, you may have claims against multiple parties: the general contractor, subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, and the property owner. Texas allows third-party claims even if you're receiving workers' comp benefits. If your employer was a "non-subscriber" (no workers' comp), you can sue them directly with significant advantages.
